I love Thanksgiving! It is important to look all that we have been blessed with in this country and to give thanks. It seems that this holiday is getting more hectic each year, and like is getting crazier so it’s important to try to pause and remember what we and our families have been blessed with.
My family anticipates Thanksgiving because we make certain food dishes, only on that day. This corn recipe is made on Thanksgiving and maybe once more during the year. It’s good but fattening. Well it tastes and looks fattening, so it must be. Enjoy the recipe. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi (again) all you chefs. I make this corn every Thanksgiving. This recipe is good AND fattening!
I got it from a friend’s sister back in “98. Here is the original recipe:
2 packages (20oz) frozen corn 1 cup whipping cream
1 cup milk 2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon msg ( I never include this)
a pinch of white pepper 2 tablespoons soft butter (not margarine)
2 tablespoons flour Parmesan cheese for topping
Chopped Chives (optional)
Combine corn, cream, milk, sugar, salt msg and pepper in large
saucepan. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Blend
together butter and flour. Stir into corn. Cook and stir until
thickened. Pour into buttered 2 1/2 qt casserole. Sprinkle Parmesan
cheese over top. Place under broiler (briefly!) until lightly browned.
Sprinkle chopped chives if desired!
Happy Thanksgiving!
